Mountain West Connection Pick Em': Week 4

Welcome to Week 4! Last week was very eventful with some tough picks. 5 people incorrectly picked Bowling Green to beat Wyoming. 6 people incorrectly picked CSU over Colorado. 4 people picked Michigan State to beat Notre Dame. 4 people incorrectly went with the upset in the WSU-SDSU game. 10 people incorrectly picked Ohio State. 7 people picked Florida State in the FSU-Oklahoma game. 4 people picked BYU in the Holy War. And the one that stung everyone of us who picked was UNLV’s stunning victory over Hawaii.

The records weren’t all that bad this week, even with that many incorrect picks, particularly Gokyle45’s, which was unblemished until Hawaii laid an egg in Vegas.

Meanwhile, Chiefsfan_in_Tacoma has posted yet another strong week after an 11-2 performance last week. I have a feeling that when next week rolls around and his first week is dropped that he is going to be high in the standings.

Last week’s bonus goes to pack_fan, who correctly predicted the margin of score in the Oklahoma – Florida State game.

Keep in mind that when you see the standings, they will still not be accurate since your worst two weeks won’t be dropped until after this week.

Mountain West Connection Pick Em': Week 3

Welcome to Week 3! Last week, some had very good weeks and others had terrible weeks. This was mostly due to the large variety of picks. Six games last week had about an equal amount of picks on both sides and that created bad records and good records. Speaking of good records, two of last week’s newcomers almost went undefeated in their first week.

Chiefsfan_in_Tacoma was inches away from a 13-0 week, literally. Had Chris Relf been able to extend the ball over the goal line in the Auburn vs. Mississippi State game, MSU would have had a chance at winning the game and making Chiefsfan_in_Tacoma undefeated. The other newcomer, joe bob priddy, picked all of the tough games correctly, but was dead wrong by being one of only two people to pick Texas State to beat Wyoming.

For newcomers, don’t freak out when you see the standings. The reason you are all the way at the bottom of the standings is because your first week has not been ruled out yet. We don’t rule out your worst two weeks until after Week 4, so bear with us for the next couple of weeks as the standings are a little scued.

Last week’s tiebreaker score went to another newcomer, HSridge, who was the closest to the 16 point score margin in the TCU-Air Force game by predicting a 40-27 TCU victory.

We also have a new outright leader on top of the standings in bfsinc, who had another 11-2 week to follow up last week’s 11-2 record.

This is the final week to join the Pick Em’ game. After this week, entry will be closed. If you are interested, just go ahead and comment! The game is a lot of fun and gives you rooting interests in big national games on TV. If you join this week, you will have both of your drops used in the first two weeks since you technically went 0-13 in those weeks.

Mountain West Connection Pick Em': Week 2

Welcome to Week 2! Last week was very eventful as everyone (Except for bfsinc) got the TCU-Baylor game wrong, many got the Oregon-LSU game wrong, and a few took some risks which didn’t pay off. Nonetheless, everyone had a relatively good week as 10 out of 14 players had double-digit wins. The only person who didn’t do well would be last season’s regular season champion, dmbase, who went 6-7.

For those of you interested in joining the game late, feel free to do so. According to the rules (which you can read here), your first week of 0-13 will be dropped and your picks will continue on as if you hadn’t missed Week 1.

This week’s Bonus/Tiebreaker goes to greekpadre, who correctly predicted the margin of victory for Boise State.
